Yes, I've been playing with different options to try and force a 28.8Kbps
connection of any kind;  the 12,000 was my fault (I limited the maximum
connect speed to that by mistake), but the other two were left "to the
laws of Nature".  The 19.2Kbps you'll note was probably V.FC, whereas
the 21.6Kbps was V.34.  In any case, yes I was playing around.

After much stuffing around, and restoring my modem to "normal",
it is now obvious that I can't connect with you over 24.0Kbps V.34.  You
went *back* a ROM update, right?  Go *forward* two for me, would you?  ;-)

Fair enough.  :-)  I'm getting pretty darned curious now, and will most
definitely be chasing down my NetComm contact to see if he still works on
their EPROMs - if so, I'll be getting him to call your system and see if he
can figure out what's going on.
