CH> Today at the golf course. Breezzy, Sunny and a bit hot in the CH> eighties... Near a Tree at one of the tee offs was something flapping CH> fiercely at and away from the tree. I asked my hubby what the heck is CH> that? He said, it's a bat. A BAT? HERE? Gee maybe it's lost. In CH> broad daylight yet. Maybe a fruit bat? The tree it was near was a CH> creping myrtle still with flowers. BA> Lost or sick. Or maybe the wind shook it out of the tree it was in, BA> sometimes they'll roost in a hollow tree. Though it wasn't windy, that it fell out of the tree is plausible. Could be an errant golf boll hit the tree. Given our above 'normal' (whatever that is) humidity this year.. (compared to the drought of the last three)- the bat prolly thought the tree was as good a place to be as a cave (BTW one does not talk on the golf course. One whispers You might upset a golfer's hard work otherwise. heh.) (Why is it though If you're going to sneeze it's going to be right as a golfer is about to whack the ball? ) BA> A year or two ago I woke up in the middle of the night after having BA> felt a sudden BA> draft right over my head. I remember thinking "...that's an awfully BA> big moth..." as BA> I was waking up - turned on the light and there was a bat headed right BA> for me - past BA> me and out the bedroom door. I finally caught it (in a metal can), BA> took it to the front BA> door and tossed him into the air outside. You mean you didn't scream EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!? Congrats on handling the situation the way you did. :) BA> Bats (that aren't rabid) aren't harmful, and they eat a LOT of bugs. BA> Sometimes you BA> can see one or two patrolling around a street or yard light at night. True they do. Eat a lot of bugs. And yes I know they fly by "sonar." Cindy ... I tried to contain myself. But I escaped. --- PPoint 3.01* Origin: Up a palm tree (1:124/6308.20) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/201 14/300 400 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 229/4000 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 SEEN-BY: 261/1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 633/260 262 267 712/848 SEEN-BY: 801/161 189 2222/700 2800/18 2905/0 @PATH: 124/6308 5025 106/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
