RS>> That does not mean that you necessarily get the population
RS>> immune to the virus forever after tho. Like I say, it depends on
RS>> what causes the survivors to survive.
RL>> And virii have the common trait of mutating to enable survival.
RS> Thats a bit garbled, you make it sound like the virus noticed
RS> the problem and chooses to mutate. It doesnt work like that, just
Of course not, that would indicate intelligence, or at least a
semblance of learned behavioral pattern. What I meant was that they
invariably mutate, thereby increasing their survival chances.
RS> like with everything else, the mutations just happen and that
RS> strain may or may not have an advantage over the other strains.
Darwin had the same theory..
RS> In the case of the HIV strain which never sero converts, it
RS> has clearly ended up with a mutation which is worse.
RS> And there is a vast variation in mutation rates too. Some are
RS> extremely stable like smallpox, some mutate at a hell of a rate
RS> like the common cold and flu.
That's the scary thing about the Ebola strains, they actually are very
close to the virii that affect young children. (green, snotty noses
etc) Albeit without the bleeding out.
