I was "between wars" at that time and working in Detroit.
I saw many dies stacked up to be shipped from Detroit to
Tucker which could not be delivered because all of the assets
were frozen....
Macnamara as President of Ford tried to claim "excess profits"
were made on subcontracts for the B-47 bombers. He had a hatred
of Boeing that went back to his days as a captain with a military
"bean counting" team at Boeing... That case fell through...
Ford later had a large contract for J-57 engines for the B-52s
and KC-135s.
