That's Logandale, where Lyn's ex-boss currently lives.  Meadowbrook, which
is a bit closer, backs onto the Logan Motorway, which just happens to be
the perfect place for crims to park while they knock over a few houses. 
Makes for a quick getaway too.  They do have a part-time security guard,
but my guess is that he's just an OAP trying to supplement his meagre
pension.

To be fair, there are some parts of Sydney (especially in the Campbelltown
and Liverpool areas) which are considerably less than salubrious, but the
stats specifically indicate that Logan's juvenile crime rate is the worst
of all.  The highest in Australia, in fact.

As an indication, although the mad bastard at Hillcrest had shot and killed
his family at around 0500, the police weren't notified until much later, at
around 1000 in fact.  The reason?  Everybody heard the gunshots, but nobody
did a damned thing about it, because it's no longer unusual to hear shots
all night.  Indeed, a friend's wife flatly refuses to visit my home any
more, because the last time she was here, somebody drove up and down our
street firing a heavy calibre rifle from the window of their car.  Fucking
charming, I don't think.
