>> Go for a walk with the mutts or read a book.
JE> On Johnstone Island, I don't think there are any dogs. That place is
ne
JE> Half Mile wide and One Mile and a Half long.
JE> It's just long enough for a plane to land on, and take off, again.
Not even enough room for a good football game!
Most islands I have heard about get creamed as soon as they sign on the air
by all sorts of paper chasers.
One poor guy on a channel island last fall got so fed up with a Us amateur
hounding him he started his transmissions with:
"This is G???,I am -NOT- calling W2???,but is anyone else there?"
The US ham left him alone after a week of him reverse badgering him.
>> Lately work and studies are becoming a norm I have to
>> get a break from and fix some things around here.
JE> Yup. Know that feeling. Been working hard here, too (again). ;-)
I have an exam coming on the 26th so my books are it for the day.
The software is easy to use,its having to know all the little bits and
ieces
that make the thing work the way it does that is the tiresome part.
And since the test is on how it works....
>> The 6m rig has decided to TVI like a BLEEP for some
>> reason (again)
JE> What TV is it messing with? Neighbors, or your personal?
Dad's TV upstairs.
Originally I blew the audio in the speakers, but chokes on the speaker leads
solved that problem.
Now I'm doing the audio in again but only when he watches cable channel 9.
Any other channel is fine except 9 on the cable.
We also have a local TV channel 9 so I'm thinking a little intermod between
me
on 50.125 ssb and the local TV signal causing it.
It doesn't help that I do 100w on 6m and the local channel 9 does 100,000.
>> and the 440 FM beam has gone of tune after some pigeons decided it was a
>>great place to roost and bent my gamma out of line.
JE> That's simple
Not when you have to clean a pile of doo-doo off the gamma to get it apart
to clean it and re-tune it!
That stuff bakes in the sun and gets as hard as concrete.
3 hours of soaking the parts in hot water and laundry soap finally got that
gunk off them.
Waht a smelly mess.
>> To top it off my back decided to go one strike and I
>> got a three week unpaid vacation from work. Sucks.
JE> Ouch :-( Hope that thing gets better, so you can climb the tower to
ork
JE> on the equipment!
Paid the guy next door a casae of brown ones (beer) to go get it down for
e.
Also fixed his stereo amp for free as part of the bargain.
>> Chemicals? What have they got out there a Love Canal type thing?
JE> Dealing with Bio-hazardous waste, doing research, etc.
JE> Remember, this is Southwest Research Inc.
YUCK. Sounds more like a "Mutants-R-Us" situation with all that.
