The odd thing is that, in the revised post-Laurel storyline, she
wasn't *involved* in the conspiracy.  Jack, Garibaldi's aide, was the
sleeper agent working for Clark & Co. to assassinate President
Santiago, while Talia got that hidden personality/Psi Corps agent
aspect of Laurel's arc.  So that couldn't be the reason for her
departure

Er - wrong.    "Get a job, get a clue, get a life",
later shortened
to just "get a life", was already a cliche when it was being directed
and hippies and slackers in the early 70s, before SNL even went on the
air.  Anyone who thinks it started with Shatner's "Trek" con sketch is
suffering from a severe temporal dislocation.
