On 04/18/98 Janada Oakley was overheard discussing California and Hisp
01/0 with John Sampson
JO>JS> Just for the record, do you happen to know what God's
JO>JS> philosophy on immigration might be?
JO>I'm no expert, but God's always been pretty direct about what to do
JO>with people who don't obey the law. Now, I'll grant there are plenty
JO>of immoral and unethical laws (too many, and most quite recent)...but
JO>I'd think a law that protects the citizens of this [once] God-fearing
JO>country would be blessed by Him.
JO>I have a lot of respect for you and what you do...I just wish the
JO>politicians would bug off and let you do it!
Thanks for the support.
As for your opinions, I'm in agreement.
However, there are those who believe that God intended for ALL his
children to share equally in his bounty. As such, since this country has
more than anyone else, it would only be right if we took anyone who
wanted to come here.
I don't subscribe to that theory, but I'm sure that is the belief of
some.
For those who wonder why I don't subscribe to this theory, let me
explain.
In order for me, or anyone else for that matter, to accept this belief,
then one would have to foresake the rule of law as written by mere
mortals.
The classic example would be that of abortion. It is the law of this
country but it is in direct conflict with the law of God.
I believe we have a sovreign right to control our borders, to limit the
numbers of people who are permitted to come here to live, and to decide
the kinds of people, OCCUPATIONALLY, that are allowed to emigrate here.
This right is one that is enjoyed by every other country on the face of
this planet. To set this country apart for whatever reason is to lessen
the validity of our laws in the eyes of the rest of the world.
Why should we be different? Because we are a nation of immigrants? So is
Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, South and Central America, the
Carribean, Africa, and parts of Europe. Every one of those countries and
continents have had mass migration in one form or another.
The fact that people have emigrated here is not a reason to foresake our
national interest or our national security.
Fact: We accept more immigrants each year than the rest of the world
COMBINED.
Fact: 30% of the inmate population of the Federal Bureau of Prisons is
comprised of aliens The crime of choice? The sale, manufacture,
transportation, importation, or possession with the intent to distribute
controlled substances. The drug of choice? Cocaine, followed by heroin,
marijuana, and methamphetamine.
Fact: The State prison populations in many states have a higher
percentage of aliens than the Bureau of Prisons.
Fact: Like it or not, we cannot successfully assimilate the record
numbers of immigrants coming to this country.
Fact: The illegal entry into this country constitutes a criminal act and
is a misdemeanor the first time someone does it, and a felony for every
subsequent illegal entry.
Fact: Approximately 65% of marriages entered into by aliens with United
States citizens are fraudulent with the sole intent of obtaining
permanent resident status. This is a felony under federal law.
So there y'all have it. Now, we can eliminate the problem by legalizing
this behavior, just like we can eliminate the "drug problem" by simply
legalizing it.
However, as Bill Bennet has said. There are some things in life that are
inherently evil or wrong.
This is one of them.
