Learning of the two (C and OS/2) at the same time is not realistic, and I
wouldn't trust any book that claimed to do so. In fact, I don't think
I've ever read a good book that tried to do anything more than teach you
the language in a platform indepentant manner.

My advice: Don't learn C, go directly to C++. It is true that C++ is a
superset of C, but it is NOT true that learning C first is a good stepping
stone to nirvana.

Exactly the opposite is true. Since C is not based on objects, as C++ is,
you will be learning a completely different way of programming.

If you must learn C, read "The C Programming Language" by
Kernigan & Ritchie (sp) -- the inventors of the C langauge, and good
writers.

For C++, there is "The C++ Programming Language" by Bjarne
Stroustrup (creator of C++), but I do not like his writing style nearly as
much as K&R. I'd suggest you get another suggestion .

IBM has a multimedia tutorial called "Experience C++"...has
anyone tried it?
