Considering I used to connect with you consistently at 26.4Kbps, then when
you dropped back an EPROM revision our connection speeds dropped back to
24.0Kbps, I'd say that it's pretty bloody obvious that the USR is fucked.

I've posted a query in aus.comms and comp.dcom.modems to see if anyone has
any ideas as to what is going on; I've also posted your mailer number in
case they want to hammer it and see what connection rate they get.
I've just connected to AUST_MODEM and NETCOMM_SUPPORT and will be following
up the matter to see if *someone* can explain what the fuck is going on.
Actually, I know someone with a NetComm Roadster V.34, and someone else
with a Banksia V.34, so I might get a little testing group going.

It is - and has already been said, you'll find fault with all modems, all
you can do is minimise your chances of failure. We *are* talking about
Telstra's PSTN, remember - who knows *what* is really at fault.
