Hi Andrew,
-> HW> Pray tell, what are the philsophical inmplications of all the
-> >"white racial superiority" stuff of yours?
AC> The implications is that we shouldn't be supporting
-> "black culture" and attacking "white culture."
If you mean, we should honor all cultures, and not as members of one,
put down another culture, fine.
Is that your position?
Surely if you are a Christian you must have such a position:
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond or free, there
is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ."
May a Black Christian person be one with you in Christ?
-> We should
-> support American culture
Of course, the culture of Frederic Douglas, Sojourner Truth, Louis
Brandeis, Gloria Steinem, John Kennedy.
->and attack anything damaging
-> to American culture.
If rather than honor all cultures, you are calling for the "white
culture " or "American culture" to establish supremacy, that's another
issue.
First you would have to define "American culture"--does it
include F Douglas, F. Frankfurter, Bessie Smith, John Kennedy--
or is it limited to white protestants?
In any case, this isn't a politic forum, so if you want
to argue politics, I respectfully suggest this isn't the place.
The only philosophical issue raised by your posting, is whether
anyone of a given culture has a basis {somehow objective and outside
his/her
culture} for judging another culture as superior or inferior.
I myself hold that no one CAN lift him/herself out of context
and make any such judgement. Each culture, presuming it survives,
has skills and means to do so. Even where a culture does not
survive, that is more likely due to natural disaster, loss of food or
water supply, or some kind of war of extermination.
Hal.
