RS> Thats not true actually, the murder rate has been STATIC for
RS> well over fifty years, in fact if anything its dropped a little.
BG> I know that, and I'm not actually talking about murder at all
BL> Rod always asserts a STATIC murder rate, but it isn't so. Here
BL> are the figures from Australian Yearbooks: 1968, '75, '85, '92.
BL> Year Homicides Rape Population Rate/M
BL> 64 270 260 10.5M 25.7
BL> 72 400 600 13.0M 30.8
BL> 82 700 1300 15.0M 46.7
BL> 90 960 2100 17.0M 56.5
BL> Where is Rod's STATIC rate?
Something seriously fucked about your figures Bob, presumably
mangling murder and homicide. 91 was a total of 354 murders
for example. Also doesnt fit with this data
CRIMES PER 100,000 POPULATION
American American
Britain France Germany Italy U.S.A. Whites Blacks
------- ------ ------- ----- ------ ------ ------
Murder 7.4 4.6 4.2 6.0 9.3 5.1 43.4
Source: _Uniform Crime Reports_ for U.S. data, _The Economist_ for
European data. European data for 1990; American data for 1992.
I've got some tables from the NSW Bureau of Crime Stats
around somewhere too, in printed form. I'll dig them out.
Those DO show our static rate for 50 years.
BL> The murder rate has doubled in the last 30 years, steadily,
BL> year-by-year. As usual, Rod is all shit whenever he says
BL> something that can be checked. All you need is a yearbook.
As usual, fuckwit Bob mangles murder and homicide.
BL> Anyone with half a brain and a few years on the clock knows
BL> Australia is a much more violent place than it used to be...
BL> and the figures confirm it.
Odd that the official crime stats operations say the reverse Bob.
BL> Especially rape!
Soorree, that one is completely fucked by the reporting rate. Death isnt.
