     I ONLY use Windoze for my scanner.  The HP682C
printer worked fine in DOS for 360 days.  I put in a
new color ink cartridge that 360th day and it quit
working.  It is now at HP for warranty service.
Usually, with my luck, it is 370 days and out of
warranty!
     I had to have a printer immediately, so I bought
the HP 870Cxe, which is labelled as "Professional
Series".  I do put quite heavy use on a printer.  This
has quite a few advances over the 682, but it was a
fine printer.
