I'm not the original poster of this thread; but I've had "the problem"
for several months with mcp2 brought current. In my investigations, the
routes are OK, netstat reports the interface exists, but it sure seems
that the stack has lost track of it somehow.

I've seen enough traffic to keep injoy dialer alive, so I have run
iptrace, and seen outbound dns traffic seeking resolution for domains
to which mine has been appended! i.e. for www.ibm.com.interaccess.com
where my domain specified in %etc\resolv2 is interaccess.com

I'm not sure if this represents a cause or a symptom.

Otherwise I cannot ping my connection peer/gateway; will try pinging
the local side of the  interface next time.
