Pete,
   Don't go to the bird shows for a bird, go to a private breeder for your 
bird.  But going to a bird show WILL put you in touch with breeders, and also 
numerous supplies and contacts with others that raise and care for birds.  
Things you should ask, is the bird vet checked, and if so who was the vet 
.  Actually contact the vet and talk with them about the 
bird, to know this is for real.  What IF the bird should die within what 
period of time might I expect a refund or replacement.  Bird shows are FILLED 
with diseases, I wouldn't go for getting a bird if my life depended on it.

fact, when I would come home, I would go right to the washer and strip my 
clothes off and wash them in HOT water.  I would always were tennis shoes 
hen
I went so I could wash those too.....  Not only do I have a lot of money 
invested in my birds, but I have loads of time and love...I wouldn't do 
ANYTHING that might kill my lovies.
