Unfortunately, true.

However, there is another approach to things like USB [taking a leaf from
VM on mainframes, where virtualization began...]:

Dedicate the troublesome hardware to ONE guest - this requires just a
minimum of wrappers for passthrough, and ducks entirely the sticky [and it
is very sticky in some cases] wicket of virtualizing an entire facility.
