Yer, they bullshitted people into believing it, it worked for a long time
until they picked on the wrong people.

But us ordinary users with our piddly little 1200/75 modems werent going to
argue over a possible large fine and confiscation of modem.

Not when a modem cost $600 for 1200/75.
