JV> I think I may do that. My roses don't have much of a fragrance,
JV> and the little they do have, I'm not real crazy about. Funny
I've noticed three kinds of roses:
1) some have almost no scent--lots of the long stemmed, florists, reds
are that way. There are reds with scent, and reds without. The rule of
thumb apparently is that the ones with scent are subject to fungi, rust
& black spot, but the ones without are fairly resistant.
2) some have a light, fresh, fruity scent. I had a "Lucky Lady" like
this that had I scent I just loved, but unfortunately it's irreplacable.
It was an AARS selection in 1952, but nobody grows it anymore.
3) some, like "Sterling Silver", have a heavy, grab-you-by-the-throat,
strong scent. For some reason I have associations with perfumes of
elderly grandmothers.
