Even more interesting is that you can buy miniature breakout
boxes that are nothing more than an adapter with a removable
cover and miniature breakout wires within. I made my own null
adapter this way then found out I could've purchased one
already wired as a null adapter. :-\ 

The premade adapter being much smaller and easier to use, of
course.
