-> DA> So the gun-purchase information may not be transmitted all the
-> way to DA> TRW. But somewhere in Visa/Mastercard/Discover's
-> computers, is a DA> record that John Doe spent $700 at "Frank's Guns"
-> on MM/DD/YY.
-> The credit card slip on the last handgun I purchased at a gunshow
-> (before Brady) reads "Brinks Garage" as the merchant :)
That's nice. But, attached to the merchant's record in the database
files are one or more industry codes that tell what kind of business(es)
the merchant conducts. Also attached to the merchant's record in the
database is a federal employer ID number which is also attached to a
record in the ATF's file of FFL holders. It may take the combining of
several databases in order to link all the information, but it is, or
can be, done.
