Strangely enough I once thought the same thing.
Then was told by many Trek people that the "trekker," was the
total whacko's
who actually decorated their homes to look like the bridge of the
enterprise.
So from then I told people I was a trekkie.
Now after the abrams movies,....I publicly deny any knowlege of anything
Trek.
...But privately still treasure my TOS original issue DVD's, and the VHS
set.
