BK>>You are the one who called him a 'pathological liar'. TR> And so he is. I did not put the `mental illness' definition TR> on it. *You* did, just recently. BK> What else is "pathological"? It can mean excessive, extreme or abnormal. Granted, this is a tertiary entry for the word, but it remains a connotative one. The word's primary definition includes "pathology," so let's skip to the secondary definition, "indicative of disease or caused by disease." This leads us to a perfectly ambivalent use of the word. If I were to say "Klahn is pathologically fat," it could mean that your gross obesity is caused by disease or it could mean that you have an abnormal desire to stuff your fat face. --- Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3138* Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 SEEN-BY: 261/100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 SEEN-BY: 633/267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
