Sun is back out again, Jim. Flat tide too. 18.3'
JH> Hello, Jean.
Hello, Jim, again.
JH> I remember a bit more about it now that you mention it. Usernames
JH> and password? for each computer, and set up what can and cannot be
JH> shared over the network.
As I am the sole user of these systems here, I shy away from PWs
and the user name is not relevant. The Network name is. Mine are
all simply name A. Simple and easy to remember. I also share all
HDs and devices. I have access to all from any keyboards. In a
home system that is for sure.
JH> With the data transfer serial or parallel cables, M$ calls it a
JH> Direct Cable Connection, and it is set up in the same place as Dial-up
JH> Networking. Yes, I remember having to do something with NetBeui.
I think that it is not in the DUN folder, but the Network app.
And a DCC is what I use too. I daisy-chain mine from the back of
the scanner, I pull the printer cable and that is easier than
moving the tower at all. I have not used the DCC lately as all
is on the LAN.
