this is just getting more and more complex isn't it? Each step adds
another possible failure point (backup/restore/backup again) and I'm
already too familiar with murphy...
I've gone back and forth trying to figure out a good reliable way to do
this and there just isn't a better solution. I've even considered using
pairs of machines to back each other up to spare disk drives that could
hold 5 copies of a backup then backup the whole thing on the weekends while
traffic levels are low but even that isn't as good as a nightly to tape
backup.
