Visual C++ is made by Microsoft and includes MFC, which is
the Microsoft Foundation Class Library.
It is still C++. For what it is worth, I like it.
But then, I also like Quick C and Borland C++ 3.0. :)
What is best for you is what is best suited to your
programming needs and chosen or required environment.
If you are working in Windows NT, then VC++5.0 is likely
to be a good choice, though it would be mostly useless in
a LINUX environment, where GCC++ may be a better choice.
If you are working in a popular environment, then there
should be a number of popular compilers available.
Perhaps a look at WHICH_C.TXT in SNIPPETS would be of some
help to you. It addresses this question in greater detail.
