What do you mean by the 'inside' IP?

What I have here is this system:  192.168.2.10

connected through a switch to a router:  192.168.2.9

which connects via DSL modem.

When I get the failure, I cannot even ping the router or anywhere else.  I
can ping ..  ....10 and 127.0.0.1.
