I just tried that, and found that the inside ping did return. While I
was repeating the tests with proper syntax for "...|tee /A report" I
discovered that the problem had quit and full service been restored
without requiring a redial.
Julian, "netstat -a" lists the interfaces. My dialup is for instance
ppp0.
then, "ifconfig ppp0" ALSO shows IPs on both sides of the interface
Next time I have a failure, I'm going to ping the inside IP and see if
that wakes it up.
