Hello, Jean. JH> With Win 3.x for workgroups or higher on both machines, it is possible JH> to set them up thru windows to be a little "Peer-to-Peer LAN", which JH> would permint sharing of files, printer, and more. JP> If in Windows, one has to set up the whole Network app, on all JP> putors. Domain name and protocols too. I found out that Netbeui JP> is required, I do not know why. Also boot to Windows Network. JP> There ae quite a few conditions to work in, and any one missing JP> is a big stick in the spokes. I remember a bit more about it now that you mention it. Usernames and password? for each computer, and set up what can and cannot be shared over the network. With the data transfer serial or parallel cables, M$ calls it a Direct Cable Connection, and it is set up in the same place as Dial-up Networking. Yes, I remember having to do something with NetBeui. The whole thing was a bit of a chore to get set up and working. There's little about it in the Win9x manual, and various tidbits here and there in Windows Help files, but hard to understand and work with. BIR I had to look into my ref book - "Upgrading and Repairing Computers" and something I found there finally helped me get it set up right. As I said, it was a bit of a chore. But once set up, it worked OK. - - - JimH. ...
