BH> What else do you do in the crafting way? I am always looking for new
BH> ideas.
CS> Grin, unless you count building computers a 'crafting' hobby! I build
CS> them for friends who cant afford to buy pre-built ones. Sans monitor,
CS> I can normally put together a decent 486 for under 300$. Add another
CS> 100$ and i can make it a pentium. Did that just a bit ago. Total
CS> cost was 369$ P-166, 32 megs RAM, 4XCD, Soundblaster, 33.6 fax/modem,
CS> 1.2 GIG HD, 3.5 Floppy, serial mouse, decent video card. They already
CS> had a decent monitor so now only have to get software. Not totally
CS> 'state of the art' but perfectly usable.
BH> I have all the stuff except the moniter. Right now all I have is a
BH> monocrome one. Since I have some vision, the colours do help abit for
BH> contrasts.
BH> I think you could call building computers a good hobby. The other
BH> really nice thing is that you are giving your experteze to people and
BH> not asking much in return. I think that is wonderful. (grin) If only
BH> we lived closer, I would give you all the names of secondhand stores
BH> where you could probably find parts for a good price.
Grin, I dont ask anything for them. The 'cost' to the person is 100% the
cost of the parts and nothing added to it. Often, the person has some of
what is needed already.
The software tends to be the hard part. I'm the 'legal' type so they have to
use either shareware, or freeware, or buy what they want loaded.
BH> Oh well, I'm sure you wouldn't want to come all the way to Canada just
BH> for cheap computer parts. (grin)
Nope! Grin.
