RF> I don't care much for Sega and the like. They usually only make
RF> destructive type games. Sim City is pretty good because it uses their
RF> creativity.
DL> Well, Cory is allowed the Sega now *only* if he is co-operating, and
DL> only for one hour. His father has the theory that Cory needs to vent
DL> his hyper- ness through the sega! I only see it as stimulating him
DL> overmuch. This is not what he needs. Which is why I like the Sim City
DL> idea. (We picked up Sim Earth last weekend, have you seen it yet? It's
DL> really neat!) With SC Cory would be forced to slow down, concentrate,
DL> plan... etc. instead of him getting all revved up and being disruptive.
Actually, if you see him overstimulated than it is not a good idea to
allow him on it for very long. I haven't seen Sim Earth. What does it
do? Most of the games for a Sega or Nintendo are pretty destructive.
RF> My children are on nothing. Like kids on meds they have their good
RF> days and their bad. Jeremy is also ODD but he is slowly getting the
RF> picture on what I expect. Actually he is becoming better lately. Of
RF> course, its probably just a phase and he will probably show his colors
RF> anytime now.
DL> GRIN! I know what you mean. Usually Cory's really good days are
DL> punctuated my *extremely* bad days... and no set pattern to them. If
DL> there was a pattern of some description we could prepare. ;) But then
DL> again if there was one we could probably figure out how to avoid the
DL> bad days/weeks all together! :\
Yeah, Jeremy just started his stuff again. Come up with the smart mouth.
I asked him why he insisted on talking to me like I was a piece of *.*
He grinned (can you believe that)? Then with his attitude he says
"cause". Now how the heck can he have both at the same time? Then he
comes and gets his dinner like he's my best friend. Some days I would
love to just pop him and get it over with. Sounds awful, but it happens
to be one of those days where I can't read him at all.
RF> I don't know of any, but I heard and mind you this is only rumor,
RF> that if their is a streak of violence in your personality that prozac
RF> is not the choice drug. Then again I know of two adults taking it
DL> Really? hmmmm... I saw a book in the drugstore last week written by a
DL> doctor about Prozac. I think I'll buy it... doesn't hurt to have more
DL> reference books around... like I *need* more! I'm getting quite the
DL> library now.
I don't buy any. Just go to the library and then afterwards I don't have
to find a place to store. Maybe you could open one? Hehee........
DL> This year we were watching for it. He always starts to worsen just
DL> before Christmas and it builds and builds until about April. I wasn't
DL> sure last year... but since I have SAD then there is a great
DL> possibility that my son does too. :(
Is that something that is inherited? I thought it was just a form of
depression that anyone could get.
RF> I can't tell what state you are in by the origin line. I would have
RF> to look it up in the nodelist, but if the state has real winter I bet
RF> this is his problem. Believe it or not sunshine plays a role in our
DL> I live in Burnaby, British Columbia (it's right beside Vancouver).
Way on the other side of the states from me.
RF> mental stability. And no matter what kind of things there are to do
RF> in the house it is not the same thing.
DL> Cory has a psychiatrist appointment on friday. Lots of stuff to bring
DL> up, and figure out. It's not coming fast enough.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Jeremy was up most of the nite again. He has
a horrible time sleeping. Since he is older I don't stay up with him if
he has a sleepless nite. But I can remember when things were not that
easy. I will be taking him this summer to get him something for that.
DL> BTW... we finally have a Chapter of CHADD opening up here in Burnaby.
DL> As it turns out Cory's psychiatrist will be one of the consulting
DL> doctors! (CHADD chapters are all over the lower mainland, that is what
DL> Greater Vancouver and all of it's outlying areas are called) but
DL> Burnaby never had one. Just one more thing to fill my non-existant free
DL> time. But for Cory I will always make the time, somehow. :)
Yeah, we had one around here but I never went. I just fill my own time
on the internet, echo areas, support for others who have these children,
and my own (which takes the brunt of all my time.
DL> Thanks. :) I wish his father could see that as clearly as I do.
Thats because as soon as a boy asks up its consider the child just
being a boy. And lets face it children act totally different around mom.
We seem to catch it all.
Regina
