Hi Marilyn,
I finally got to the Falls. After an enjoyable time in the Parks
greenhouse viewing the gorgeous flowers, the humming birds and
the whydahs, we set off to find the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens
Conservatory, where 2000 butterflies flit around gawking at the
gawkers. :-)
We went further than we've ever gone before, and pulled off at the
Spanish Aero-car ride (closed for the winter.) There it was, the
famous cable car that I didn't even know existed. :-)
As I peered over the restaining wall, I heard a noise like 1000
toilets flushing...and then I saw the famous Whirlpool Rapids,
which I hadn't known existed. :-)
From there, I could barely see the promontory where I had stood on
the US side and looked down at the whirlpool, which I DID know
existed! Yesterday the Whirlpool was not as obviously circular,
as the force of high spring water created many little eddies around
the main turbulence.
And then we finally got to see the butterflies. What a gorgeous end
to a glorious day! It was a slightly belated 37th wedding
anniversary.. and all I wanted to do was rush back to my
non-functional computer and share it with you. Well, today my
computer was restored; so here I am, burbling merrily on. :-)
...Sandra...
PS. We turned back then, but had we continued, we would have seen
the giant floral clock further along. I guess all those things still
exist.
