That capability is not already in gopherservice.js, but it seems like something
that could be easily added. Likely, in the block following:

  if(request=="" || request=='/') { /* "root" */

Exactly how that gets represented over the network I'm not sure, but a good
read of https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1436 should illuminate how to do that.
And if you end up with something workable, then submit a patch and I'll commit
it to CVS.
