BG> Big deal, so you do it once, determine that the system can handle that

PE> So it's a bug, which I documented, and had a workaround for in
PE> 10 minutes. I didn't document it as "a bug so bad that I intend
PE> to commit Hurry Curry if it isn't solved by the this time next
PE> week". Sorry you fail to see the difference.
BG> Pity it's not a bug at all, but the way that all USRs work, and have done
BG> from day one. Who's to say that Rockwell's method is right anyway? Maybe
BG> they're the buggy ones...
You can't understand the simple fact that there is NO logic to
send "OK" and "RING" at two different speeds? Poor man. Oh,
and that's only if "OK" was in response to an "ATZ" not
"ATS0=0".
PE> It is up to USR to fix the bug,
BG> Don't hold your breath waiting then.
I won't. Another company with ZERO support just like Digicom.
PE> I'd probably use ATZ S0=0 myself, if that worked.
BG> It won't. Think about it for a minute, and you'll see why.
PE> You don't know what will or will not make a code bug appear.
BG> You missed my point as usual. I said that the above init won't work, it's
BG> up to you to figure out why (no, it's not a trick question).
If you want to say something useful, go right ahead.
BG> I've given you the fix. It's now up to you to use it.
PE> I am happy with my other workaround. I don't change speed very often.
BG> Then why all the bitching ? I think you sometimes complain simply for the
BG> sake of doing so. Try getting out more often, it'll help no end.
*I* documented a bug. *YOU* decided to question that bug, which
is what all the debate in the past 2 or so weeks has been about.
Sorry if you are too thick to understand that extremely simple
concept.
BG> For the definitive answer, ask Joe F in the
BG> USR_Modems echo. Anything else is just a guess.
PE> So why did you ask me instead of him then?
BG> Just wanted you to publicly flout your ignorance some more, that's all.
ROFL! Bill, in a few decades time, when you've finally got the
smell of egg off your face, you might have a chance to find
ignorance in me. You certainly won't get it by asking me to take
a guess at how USR would have managed to introduce a bug into
their modem. BFN. Paul.
