Again, we need to get back on topic here.
In fairness to Borland and MS, Delphi and Visual Basic do not require
much if any knowledge of the Windows API to create down right useful and
functional applications. Sure it helps to overcome certain limitations
or to write better code, etc., but these tools were created to simplify
Windows programming and they do that quite well. I often create apps in
Delphi and VB with little or no need to use the API. And then, even with
little knowledge of the API, one can easily cut and paste code snippets
into a Delphi or VB magazine to make use of some of the cool stuff. I
think Delphi makes it very easy to create apps that comply with
standards for Windows 3.x, 95 and NT. Delphi 3 certainly does!
