That military stuff is built to last.  I still have my son's Marine Corp
combat jacket with the lining.  Very warm during cold weather.  It's over
twenty (20) years old and in like-new condition.

That has me puzzled.  I think all of the shoe manufacturers have changed
their way of sizing shoes.  Two years ago, I wore a 12W.  Now I have to
wear a size 13.  At my age I'm quite certain my feet didn't grow, although
pre-hurricane Katrina when I lived in the woods (not quite as isolated as
you are, but close), I walked around barefoot a lot.  (-:
