subject: Named pipes #2...

GG> I am having a small problem here with named pipes.
GG> When the server and the client app run on the same
GG> machine it works great, but when server and client are
GG> on different machines, things start to break down.

By "break down", do you mean "doesn't work", or
"works sometimes"?

If "doesn't work", your code was missing the most important clue
for us: the named of the pipes.

Local pipe name | Remote pipe name
            -------------------|------------------------
 Server \pipe\foo | \pipe\foo
                               |
 Client \pipe\foo | \\computer\\pipe\foo
                               |

A common error is to try to add a computer name in the server process. A
server process Creates pipes, a client pipe Opens pipes.
Therefore,DosCreateNPipe() will never, under ANY circumstances, contain
"\\computer".
