Sun is back out again, Jim. Flat tide too. 18.3'
JH> Hello, Jean. I got msg marked 'PVT' but I think that doesn't work
JH> anymore, since others have replied - - and that is fine with me.
I did not stamp it "Private", I used Major, Sir.
JH> Sorry I haven't had time (or need) to work with Canon Printer here,
JH> but here's a refresh of what I wrote awhile back via email (back in
JH> May) - -
I have that text at home still, now I have it here too.
JH> BC-02 lists only isopropyl alcohol
Is this the liquid that is used as fuel line anti-freeze ?
JH> I think I'll start with isopropyl alcohol, or
JH> just distilled water.
I tried water, not the distilled type though. It did not work
for me. This was a double tank type, you know the one that holds
a smaller black and another tri-colour reservoir into a
printhead. The big black only one is only in my Canon 4000. The
Lexmark down not offer " Black only " mode. So I devoted that
one to colour need and the Canon to black only need.
JH> Some of the Canons have printhead with built-in ink tank (Like HP).
JH> Some have separate printhead, with ink tanks which snap in. I'm
JH> talking here about trying to clean out the "printhead"
part, whether it
JH> be separate, or combined with built-in ink reservoir.
I only tried the big black one as there is not other "problem"
of a separate tank. It is all in one part. I have three of them
that I rotate in use to keep them live. All are refills. One
gave me a bit of a refusal to print but eventually came to its
senses. I waved it over the trash can and it got the message.
JH> When I do get around to working on the supply of dried-out Canon
JH> printheads here, I think I'll start with Isopropyl, maybe mixed with
JH> some distilled water. Overnight soak minimum, then with a folded up
JH> kitchen paper towel - the very absorbent ones, press the printhead
JH> part down onto folded multi-layers of those, slightly wet with
JH> distilled water - - suck out any now-dissolved ink by capillary action,
JH> if possible. I'll do that as long as lots of ink seems to be coming
JH> out, occasionally dipping the printhead back into the isopropyl
JH> solution.
Do mention here any success with this procedure. I tried it too,
overnight and at least 5 hours on the soaked absorbent tissue.
JH> I think I wrote you that I used to have an "ultrasonic jewelry
JH> cleaner" thingie
I have seen these in use before. Amazing.
We used to say in Sabre flying, dogfighting, Watch your back.
Might I pass this along to you now. Get a young fellow to ride
that mower for you, for a while.
I was the audio techie in a wedding saterday. Got all kinds of
fine wine to taste after the fact.
