PE> FM> Oh, have you fixed it yet?

PE> No, I hate Maximus.

FM> Is that because it has bugs which are hard to fix, or is it in fact
FM> configuration options which are hard to configure?

It has bugs which I was unable to fix due to lack of source code.
Me and maximus don't get on well together. I was planning on
replacing it with something that just send DEVIL*.* and unzip.exe
via zmodem, and you had to figure the rest out for yourself.

PE> Considering you got to chose both passwords for the system,
PE> I have a fair idea where I apportion the blame.

FM> Considering I haven't used the on-line one for a *long* time, and

You were on-line before you were a point. The frequency is
under your control.

PE> FM> I have absolutely no idea what password I used whenever I first logged
PE> FM> on to TML.

PE> And whose fault do you reckon that is?

FM> The brain-dead software which requires something *different* from the
FM> on I use every day.

That WAS the one you used first, it was up to you to continue using
it, but no, you chose to use a different password.

PE> So if you took as much care with the other password as this one,
PE> you wouldn't have a problem.

FM> If the software wasn't brain-dead, I wouldn't have a problem.

So when you've got some non-brain-dead software, give me a call,
and I'll let you know if I think it is better than what I am
currently using.

PE> That is surprising, you normally get security failures. I did
PE> upgrade Yatic recently (4 months ago or something) to cope with
PE> the large number of points defined (was max of 30).

FM> Want me to try it again, with a wrong PW? Or can you test that from
FM> there?

I can, but there's a bit of stuffing around, so if you've got
nothing better to do, feel free to use an incorrect password,
and then complain that I'm not taking security seriously, and
I'll see if there's something I can do. :-)

FM> Hmmm, Yatic. Presumably "Yet Another..." - what does TIC stand for?

TIC is taken from "TICK" which was the original file distribution
program. Presumably because fido, being a dog, was likely to
have ticks.

BFN. Paul.
