Ray,
These are probably a result of a virus affecting M$ machines. There is a
virus in the wild recently (I forget the proper name) that would infect a
computer where the user was using M$ Outlook. The virus would then try to
spread itself by sending messages to other computer users.
The "from" line was randomly filled in from the infected machine's M$
Outlook contact or address book list. The "to" address was probably
everybody in the infected machines M$ Outlook contact or address book.
It would appear that someone was infected that had your email address in
their M$ Outlook contact or address book. And the virus has sent infected
messages "in your name" from their computer (not yours), to others.
The administrators at the other ISP's were able to detect the virus
content, or the destination TO address was not valid, and the
administrators replied to the "sender" or "from"
address. Hence, the
virus was spoofing others by using your email address as the "from"
address.
On the good side, most ISP's know this and should not really fault you for
these email messages.
On the bad side, you will keep receiving these kinds of admin messages for
a while longer. When or if it will quit entirely, is probably not yet
predictable.
I have had exactly the same problem. But fortunately for me, it would
appear that they have stopped.
Regards,
Mark
