subject: External Errorlevel

Hello Leslie

LR> Many of you are I am sure familiar with Binkley or similar
LR> FIDO mailers. For those of you who are not, suffice to say that Bink

LR> Great! So what's the problem? The problem is, I (and some of
LR> my clients) would like to have an EXTERNAL event cause Bink to exit
LR> with errorlevel 80 (or whatever). IOW, rather than opening up the
LR> Binkley session, pressing F8, pressing to
get back to the
LR> desktop, and continuing, we would like to simply start a process

LR> which causes Bink to exit and then do our internet stuff, whatever it

Piece of cake! No programming neccessary. Mind you, I've just spend some
time going through the docs. I just opened up a command shell and put a
file called BTEXIT5A.1 in the flags directory and bink (task number 1)
exited with error level 5A.

Look in the file called WHATSNEW.59A

Of course, I tried it using "copy con flags\btexit5a.1" and bink
exited before I had chance to press ctr...Z. So bink deleted the file,
ctrl...z presumably created it again, bink started again and immediately
exited again with error level 5A! It was OK creating the file with a text
editor. But I guess the best way would be just to copy a dummy file
"copy dummyfile BTEXIT5A.1" using a batch/cmd file.
