It's another reason I dislike Verizon as an ISP.
I tried ALL the local dialup numbers.
Might very well work with Internet Junction, www.ij.net
though I've not tried it.
Hey, check them out, they're cheap, 9.95/month and
everyone I've referred to them is thrilled and have been long time users.
They're central Florida only but if I recall correctly that
local dialup area goes right across the state from here and should include
Orlando and Altamont Springs. It's on their web site anyway, local dialup
map, numbers, graduated services per cost, ect.
No servers allowed setup for 9.95 but I believe time is unlimited/month.

RJT> I've heard of KFLEX but don't recall much about it.

WC> Used to work fine in this incarnation until v.92 protocols

WC> It was one of two competing standards... KFLEX lost.

My reasearches indicate the two softwqare modems I'm using
are universally dispised. A software modem that requires you to
send it back to the factory for a new chip set defies
logic as I understand it.

JH> As 56K modems were being

No flash or software upgrade for the Rockwell HCF, just firmware
upgrade by manufacturer :-(
Tried the work arounds, no joy.

JH> I'm not sure about soft-modems, but I am sure that I have flashed USR
 JH> modems from X2 up to V.90.

JH> V.92 came later. Maybe your ISP stopped supporting K56Flex altogether?

It appears so :-( In the last five months no less.
Verizon has introduced no end of problems since they took over
GTE, never had a problem with GTE for YEARS.

JH> Or maybe you could look over the access numbers and they may still be
JH> supporting K56Flex like Juno does, under a different dialup number??

I have decided, hardware modem in one machine then network
the machines.
