Hi, Bill.

BG> BG> Do your dialling directory speeds match your port speed? They should.

BG> FM> Port was 57600, dialling directory 38400. But Telix seemed to
BG> FM> understand that, it changed (at least on the status line, presumably
BG> FM> also in reality) to 38400 when I called Paul.

BG> That should be OK. The real problem comes from having Telix's DD speeds se
BG> to rates lower than those at which you expect to connect, as the DD rate
BG> takes precedence over the locked serial port speed.

Yes, I thought that was the case, and would be OK.

BG> FM> So I changed them both to 57600, got a terrible connect - seemed like
BG> FM> 300 baud. Changed them both to 38400, got a
"normal" 2400 connect. I
BG> FM> wouldn't necessarily say that was caused by what I changed as this
BG> FM> problem is intermittent as I've said.

BG> Very odd. I'd have expected 38400 to work just fine. Have you tried any
BG> other V.32terbo-capable modems yet, like David's or Poe's?

No I haven't, and unlikely to do so now since *whatever* the problem
was has now gone away. I'm sure 38400 does work OK, whatever happened on
that connect was just another example of the intermittent.

BG> FM> Still working on this one, maybe Paul will replace the USR before we
BG> FM> resolve it.

BG> Looks like he's done so already. Connected at V.32bis this a.m.

Yeah, no problems here now for over a week.

Regards, FIM.
