Remove lanstastic and try again -- it,  as a network program,  has to
replace (or at least gets its hands dirty in) the named pipes driver.

A long time ago (before os/2 2.0),  LAN Manager/Server used to break local
named pipes too.  My experience with Lantastic have not been pleasant -- it
would not surprise me at all if this was the problem.


Boot up to your maintenance desktop and run your test from there.
