Hello, All! Since I'm an on-again, off-again member of the TG community, I'd like to post this question to you all (or rather a request for your opinions): To be frank, I'm having problems running my BBS as it is right now. I'm working currently 90 hours a week or more at two full-time jobs, plus doing net development, computer repair and other stuff on the side. I had an offer from Dan Shaurette, the author of the Gothik BBS door (which, btw, is back in development at http://www.shaurette.com), to help me by becoming my co-sysop. Now, normally, this would be something I'd pshaw at, but right now, I'm extremely overwhelmed. I carry a lot on my BBS plate, but a majority of it is the mail moving, which is working well. I'm running Maximus/2 currently and it's presented two problems so far to me: 1) it keeps dropping carrier on people for seemingly no reason. I've double-checked and triple-checked (in some cases, even quadruple-checked) my configurations of all software involved, but there has been no cure for it yet and 2) since Maximus's configuration is entirely text-based, it's hell to have a sysop work on it from remote. So, I am considering possibly (and with what I have to move over, it would be no small task) moving back to Telegard/2 because it cures the two major problems I'm having with my BBS. Not only is it rock-solid, I can also allow others to work on the BBS via remote. But (this is for TG/2 sysops!) TG/2 is refusing to work right with VModem and I'm stumped. It's taking TG/2 about 5 seconds to see that a caller has disconnected and to get the modem reset. I'm thinking it's in my configuration settings somewhere (I do have a test copy of TG/2 set up). Does anyone using TG/2 have a good working modem (for VModem) configuration I could see and peruse? I know my reputation for switching software makes me rather notorious in the BBS world, but this time, I really, honestly face the choice of making enough changes to have someone help me run it or permanently shut down my BBS (not the mail) due to lack of time to watch it constantly. I'd appreciate comments. However, if they're snide or facetious, please don't bother. I've no need nor am I in the mood for it. I've been working this much for nearly two months now and it has shortened my fust to about 1/16 of an inch.
