Hi Shauna!!!!
I finally had a batch of messages come through!! I am also sending you
an email today. I didn't have any messages in S&Q, so hopefully tomorrow
there will be something there too.
I finally finished my Star Challange Quilt. I spent way too much time on
it. It was a learning experience. I will only use cotton batt in
specific projects for the "look", or in machine quilted pieces. I got
the eagle quilt all marked. My friend lent me her light box, and it
worked very well. While I had it, I used it to mark a nine-patch that I
have in the wings. Not the one from the exchange blocks that I won here.
This one has alternate blocks, that I marked feathered circles in, and it
was set on point. I still need to put borders on this piece, but since I
had use of the light box I decided to get it marked.
Last Sat. a bunch of quilters from my group went down to Springville for
the opening of their annual show. It is one of the biggest shows in the
state. Five of our quilters had quilts juried in, and three of the five
won ribbons!! Julia won with a feathered star that has several pieced
borders. She took a weeklong class at Asilomar from Marsha McCloskey.
It is a wonderful piece. Kathleen had to be talked into submitting her
Baltimore Album Quilt. And then she wins the applique ribbon. It is a
wonderful quilt. Absolutely beautiful floral blocks, and wonderful
quilting. The third ribbon went to Florence for her miniature piece. It
has squares of floral prints set on point sashed in muslin. She has a
simple green border, designed her own intricate quilting patterns for the
outer muslin border, and sculptured the bindings. There were a lot of
lovely pieces in this show. We are going down again in a couple of weeks.
Take Care,
Sylvia
