I was once under the impression that some of the ones that were
shortened for the original airing, may have been returned to full-
length for sydication, but I don't know if that is true.

Murphy was a better character, but I think that the Doctor was a better
"setup" for something stupid-yet-humourous to happen.  ;-)  Dr. Nick is,
also, but in a different way.  Where Nick is a bungling medical doctor,
Monroe was a psychiatrist/psychologist, which means they had different
situations to be funny in.

I think they could have used him for some more bits.  However, I wonder
if the person who did his voice was no longer available?
