Did you see the question from the guy who had seen the PBS
special about parrots and was thinking about getting one?
He's going about it the right way... doing research, asking
questions. A parrot is much more than a cat or dog... it's
likely with good care to outlive you. To me they are more like
        having a forever-child, a life-long commitment. That's neat
about your doggy... she's lucky to have you for owners.

He's definitely a he! I didn't mind getting him "used"... in
fact, part of his charm is the hilarious stuff he says that he
learned from his previous owners (we are #3 in his life). Oh, the
voices! I've never met his first owners, but i'd know them instantly
by their voices if i ran into them. He does whole conversations of
theirs: "Alan?" "WHAT!" "Come 'er!" "WHAT???" "Come 'er, Alan!"
"Grumble grumble" (inaudible grouching from Alan). And the telephone
one (in Alan's voice): "Hello? Yeah, uh huh. No, no, yeah, yep, uh
huh....: [garbly stuff like voice coming thru fone line]... "Yeah,
sure, Bye!" He also has a repetoire of their laughs. My husband says
he's like having a possessed person in the kitchen.
        Parrots are definitely cool! :-)
