subject: NC train chasing

Just got back from chasing trains in North Carolina and I've got a few
questions.
As I usually railfan around the northeast, I've picked up the Steam
Powered Video Railroad Atlas. I've also got a neat guide with a text
listing of New York State rail lines, complete with mile posts,
description and location of sidings and location of talking detectors.
Is there anything similar available for the North Carolina area? At
one point I heard that a local was going to be making bunches of
moves between two mileposts. The radio signal was very strong so I
"assumed" I also must be between those two mileposts. Although I have
lots of mosquito (and other) bites I got no photos of trains, guess I
was just too far east (or west).
Maybe I should take up birdwatching...I did get a few shots of
Cardinals and a couple humming birds. Just like trains. Take the 50mm
lens off, put the 200mm on, aim at the cardinal across the tracks and
a humming bird starts zipping about 6 feet away. Change back to the
50mm and the humming bird decides to sit still.
