Actually the IRQ is "assigned" to the I/O port.
  Port 3BC and 378 use IRQ 7
  Port 278 uses IRQ 5.
I have only one printer adapter installed on this machine.
It is called COM1, it uses IRQ5 @ port 278, and OS/2 loves it.
