Now I'm starting to get scared!
Actually, I'm aware from the two books I have so far read, that there
can always be problems with a bird adapting to a new owner and new
envoirnment, so I'm taking that into consideration. I'm definately
still in the "reading and thinking" stage and I'm not in a rush to go
running right out and buying one. (I'm fighting the temptation to do
it, though...)
Does it take more "work" to get a just-weaned baby, versus a juvenile or
adult bird? I can see that bonding is more likely to happen in that
situation. What I thought I would do was to observe a bird and see how
it reacts to me while it is in its cage and see if it would tolerate
stepping on my hand or letting me touch it or pet it. If all that was
ok, I would figure that there would be a decent chance that the bird
might bond with me.
Well, I have more reading to do, so we will see how that goes :)
... Don't question authority; it doesn't know either.
